Hi, thanks for visiting my Coaching blog… I’m Chris, from Omagh in Northern Ireland.
By day you’ll find me at my day job as Senior Web Designer at LD2, outside of work I am also a voluntary football coach with Mountjoy United Juniors.
Coaching Experience
After completing my Level One Coaching award with the Irish Football Association I began coaching with our then Under 9 Group at Mountjoy Juniors.
In 2015 I continued my coaching education by successfully completing Part 1 of the Uefa B Licence. In June 2019 I took part in the week long residential course to complete Part 2 of the Uefa B Licence.
In addition to the Irish FA Qualifications I have attended various other short coach education events including the Coerver Coaching Introductory Award.

Philosophy
I believe an attractive style of play can be encouraged and developed at the youngest ages, even at grassroots level.
As Coaches we should be role models for our players, especially in youth football. I want to help develop good young people as well as confident footballers.
First and foremost I want the teams I coach to play attractive football, to be comfortable in possession, to build up play from the back and attack with speed.
I encourage players to continually develop their technical abilities and to understand the principles of the game, both while attacking and defending.
Overall as a coach I believe in fostering a love for the game of football as it can have such a positive impact on players lives, whether they go on to play at an elite level or simply play for fun.
What’s the purpose of this website?
I first set up this website/blog to share session plans with fellow coaches at Mountjoy Juniors. On a weekly basis I would post our sessions rather than having to print out session plans.
My aim is to continue to develop the content on this site, to create more session plans to share with coaches and allow me to document my coaching journey.
I’m always keen to talk to other coaches, you’ll find me on Twitter @chriscolhoun or go to my contact page.
